The evolution of SimCity has always been in finding ways to accurately portray what's happening in your city. Through various methods of simulation, SimCity, the fifth game in the main series, is using the new GlassBox engine to show how your world works in unbelievable ways. Electronics Arts was kind enough to provide a trailer showcasing GlassBox in motion, and it's easy to see how the engine earned its name.
Using terminology such as resources, units, maps and agents, this first look at GlassBox provides a multilevel look into the processes going on below your city. Explaining each of these terms would prove fruitless, as it's really much simpler to see how the trailer defines them and the game aspects they're responsible for. One thing is certain, SimCity and GlassBox will offer an unseen level of access into your future cities.
Keep in mind this is an early look at SimCity's inner working, and not meant to be a display of how the final game will appear or play.
