Yeah, they'd better pray Nintendo doesn't show up with the Wii U, which will now have HD.

the only thing the current Wii ever needed was blu ray support and the option to play those films on the TV. that's a common desire i keep hearing.

sadly it would be against nintendo's ways of business, people say that nintendo offers good prices for their hardware but the profit customers gain in starter packs will be lost in the purchase of several additional accessories.

What a very keen observation, Mr. Young. Microsoft, and even Sony, might be in the deep if they do not follow suit with their own console. Things sure seem to be repeating themselves. However, looking back at the generation before this one, waiting isn't exactly a bad thing. Back when it was Nintendo, Sony, and Sega being the main console competitors, it was Sega that unveiled their next generation console first in 1998 in Japan, which was the Sega Dreamcast. And then the PS2 was released two years later; the game cube a year after that; and the debut of Microsoft's first console, the xbox, the same year as the gamecube. Although premiering a couple to a few years after the first 6th generation console, the PS2, gamecube, and Xbox took the entire market by storm. Mainly the PS2.

The display of next gen by Nintendo doesn't mean Microsoft and Sony have to do the same thing...

Don't expect PS4 and new Xbox until 2014 E3 or 2015...In this time of global economic, gaming gaints can't afford to waste time by announcing their next generation consoles which will take time, money and manpower to release and develop...

If you want next gen...Go and buy a PS Vita which is a current next gen handheld with awesome graphics

Hardly, Nintendo might have a large audience but any multiplat titles they manage to secure will most likely be limited to the 360/PS3's capabilities unless the Wii U somehow manages the impossible and attains a substantially larger fan base than the two consoles combined with more hardcore appeal.

In other words people will have to learn to enjoy playing 360 spec'd games regardless of the Wii U's prowess leaving the PS3 and 360 as strong competition still.
Obviously the Wii will probably have some exclusive titles with better utilisation, but whether that is sufficient to justify ditching a 360/PS3 over remains to be seen.

I'm actually glad to hear this, not ready to go blow money on a new next-gen console. I still think that PS3 and 360 have a lot of life left in them (Heck, I still like my Wii, and am not ready to give that up just yet.) But still, I don't think Wii U is going to put out Playstation or Xbox before they can bring out their next gens, even if they get a lot of followers. I mean, everything that they'd be able to do on Wii U (and on "PS4" and "720") can most likely already be copied and improved upon by a PC, and that hasn't taken any consoles out yet. I doubt the Playstation and Xbox fans will be moved from their respective consoles that easily.

My 360 still works just fine, Tons of games I want to beat before switching to a new console.

now that's something i think we can all agree on.
in 2013 it may be getting time to think about new possibilities but for now the way it goes now it's good.
