Over the weekend Microsoft held an Xbox 360 fan appreciation festival in Akihabara, Japan, showing off a few of their upcoming Kinect exclusive titles. Steel Battalion Heavy Armor, the joint Capcom and From Software mecha simulation, was shown, but remained unplayable.
After sharing the same presentation viewed during last year's Tokyo Gaming Show, producers Kenji Kataoka and Tatsuya Kitabayashi reassured fans. They stated the game is close to being complete and promised that Heavy Armor would exceed everyone's expectations.
Fans of the original Steel Battalion likely remain hesitant. Moving from a $200 peripheral cockpit to a controller and Kinect system is quite the transition. Though if any company can be trusted with Steel Battalion, it's From Software, developers of the hugely popular mecha series Armored Core. Hopefully hands-on impressions will be readily available soon.
Also shown during the Akihabara fan event was Crimson Dragon, formerly known as Project Draco. The Kinect based shooter from the developers of Panzer Dragoon was playable at the event, but release information has yet to be announced.
