Though the free to play model is most prominently found on PC, it's gaining some traction on console.
Similar to MAG, Sony is making the multiplayer in popular shooter Killzone 3 free to play starting next week, with a currently undisclosed level cap in place, and an option to unlock it for $14.99 (if you want the single player too, you'll have to go retail). Unlike with MAG, this version of the game will be available for everyone to download off PSN instead of just Plus subscribers.
Killzone 3 has sold millions of copies since launching about this time last year. Developer Guerilla Games is currently at work on the next installment in the series, so it works Sony would try promoting it further ahead of that launch.
