An English localization of Nintendo and Mistwalker's The Last Story for the Wii was already on the cards thanks to Nintendo Europe (complete with English accents), but until now that didn't really mean much for North America. Today XSEED confirms it will serve as publisher The Last Story here in North America some time this summer.
The Last Story follows Zael and his band of fellow adventurers as they go to Lazulis Island, the only region prospering as the mainland of the Empire slowly rots away, in search of work and a better future. After securing employment with the ruler of the island, Count Arganan, Zael dreams of finally achieving a secure life as a knight and putting his unstable mercenary past behind him, but things don’t exactly go to plan when events during their first mission change his life forever…
It's one more win for RPG fans who have looking forward to seeing both this and Monolith's Xenoblade Chronicles eventually come to North America. The Last Story is the brainchild of Final Fantasy series creator Hinorobu Sakaguchi, who now serves as Mistwalker's CEO, and injects both action and a bit of strategy into traditional JRPG trappings.
Here's hoping XSEED is also considering a limited edition bundle for the title to match the European release.
