Nintendo provided a first look at Mario Tennis Open for the 3DS through its Nintendo Direct wire, which conveniently live the same day Sony's PS Vita launched. Developed by longtime series studio Camelot, Mario Tennis Open will support both local and online multiplayer between up to four players at once.
Players will be able to jump into open matches online, allowing them to quickly find other players of similar skill levels to challenge. In addition to placing on leaderboards, players can also earn medals and other achievements online. That could lead to one full tennis court.
Mario Tennis Open will naturally support the touchscreen which will present the player with some of the more common actions they can make during a match, and it also makes use of the 3DS gyroscope to allow the player to use the handheld like a camera to pan the court, for example.
