For the Old Republic community, March promises a plethora of new content to explore, after months of relative stagnancy (despite constant patching). For more curious players, BioWare is holding weekly Q&A sessions with the community, during which the developer selects a few quests from players to answer.
The most recent session sees questions we've all wanted to ask for some time, like character transfers, guild banks, and that mysterious Legacy system. You know, that purple bar under your XP meter?
Well, BioWare Austin's Daniel Erickson addressed the Legacy question first, asked by "Alkapwn" (clever). Erickson confirms that existing in-game races will be unlocked for players in Old Republic 1.2 but also insists Legacy benefits aren't just for new characters. He doesn't actually say what sort of perks existing characters will get, but the prospect of being allowed to play as other races is fascinating -- hopefully something more interesting than the near-human species we've been had since launch. Erickson also mentions that new races are being taken into consideration, but that's still in its planning stages.
Target-of-target is another important feature being added in 1.2, thank God. Soon, players will be able to see exactly who their target is targeting, and life will suddenly be so much easier. New customization options will also be implemented, with more being considered.
Another interesting addition will be dual specs, though BioWare has no plans to let players switch advanced classes... ever. On the bright side, dual spec "is in the works and coming soon."
