Project codenames hinting at Kevin Costner themed GDC
Indie gamers rejoice! Paradox Interactive, publisher of indie games big and small, has announced their lineup for GDC 2012. Alongside Dwarven colony management game A Game of Dwarves and their medieval multiplayer War of the Roses, Paradox will be revealing another three new IPs.
Teasing us pleasantly, Paradox introduced Project "JFK" from Magicka developers Arrowhead Game Studios, a "breakneck-paced" multiplayer game with a focus on killing your friends, as opposed to it just being a secondary objective in Magicka; Project "Revenge!", from Brazil based Critical Studio, a redundantly described "action packed action game"; and Project "Silverado", Zeal Game Studio's sci-fi RTS/modern shooter/tabletop wargame. You can't fault indie developers for having ambitious and creative design ideas, at least.
In the past, as befits and represents indie development as a whole, Paradox has released a mixed bag of titles with varying success. Still, almost all of their releases end up with a cult of dedicated fans. Even if you aren't necessarily an "indie gamer", I'd recommend watching Paradox's 2012 lineup, because you might see something you like.
GDC 2012 runs March 5 through March 9 in San Francisco, California.
