Significant differences in our tests
Update: to see HRTP compared with the Skyrim HD mod, head here.
Today Bethesda released the High Resolution Texture Pack (HRTP) for the PC version of Skyrim. Naturally, we went about to test what differences can actually be observed, and came up with some interesting results and some screenshots to boot.
The screens below show the greatest differences. It must be noted not all textures in the game are improved; some are left stagnant (grass), and some are already of quite a high resolution as is (bridges). On the whole, though, the contrast, while it could always be greater, is much welcomed, particularly for the once blurry textures on clothing and trees, for example.
If you're into modding, the results seem to be about on par with what the community has done or greater, so you may want to just go the official route.

That mod is nothing short of amazing, i cant imagine the amount of work the author must have put in... more than bethesda, that much is certain. almost everything is drastically enhanced with the latest version. for some reason though the screenshots that appear first are of the older versions, so scroll back through the pics to see the most recent version. this guys mod has upped my skyrim experience x 4k. as for this official stuff... skip it like its a youtube add and move on. (with all due respect to all parties....of course)
mtgAzim I must've only seen the old screens, though I thought I looked through them all recently and didn't find the difference drastic.
Fury I'd do that but it seems the mod was removed earlier today.
This is a joke ... there is no significan't difference, Skyrim texture's are bad ... compared to other games.
It's not. This doesn't have to be a competition. Both are great games with different strengths and weaknesses. Both of you keep debate civil or I'll have to start removing comments.
