Also, nothing scarier than a horde of giant spiders
Remedy released today a new trailer for their upcoming downloadable thriller Alan Wake's American Nightmare, and while it is a developer diary, you'll find no shortage of gameplay in the video.
In the first dev diary, Remedy offers considerable background on the new Alan Wake spin-off, including insight regarding the game's conception. Alan Wake players might appreciate all the talk of improved "fight with light" combat, which we see in action toward the later half of the video. With "wilder" enemies than before, American Nightmare might be closer to Robert Rodriguez From Dusk till Dawn, whereas the first Alan Wake was characterised as being more Stephen King-esque.
Definitely recommend checking out the video below. A batch of new screenshots accompanies the dev diary as well, giving some of these new wilder enemies their close-up. Think chainsaw/axe-wielding madmen aren't scary enough. Try the giant spider swarm, then. Gross.
American Nightmare is due out February 22 as the second title in XBLA's House Party lineup. Priced at 1200 Microsoft Points, it shares the highest price among House Party titles with Ubisoft's I Am Alive.
