Download the patch now
Battlefield 3 players on PS3 no longer have to suffer in silence: a fix for broken VOIP is now available via PlayStation Network, so head there and download away, then chat it up with your squadmates and teammates.
GamesBeat notes it took a grand 104 days to see the issue acknowledged and sorted. From what we've heard via the developers, it was a complex technical issue that took longer than desired to amend.
On the bright side, at least you're not in the same camp as Bad Company 2 PC players were/are: the game still has broken VOIP.
A second, major patch is expected for Battlefield 3 sometime this month.
