say, why do Xbox players have to be a paying subscriber to try out online based demos? whether it's considered exclusive by microsoft or not we pay them after we are satisfied with the product not the other way around. just make it a temp access or something not gold only, that's just a cruel way to get subscribers especialy since other platforms grant access for free, timed in some cases but eventualy everyone gets a chanse.

it stands loose from the idea of the free gold status itself though. fan of the series or not just slap it on the hard drive, try it out, and enjoy the online fun. you'd be crazy if you passed that oppertunity.

Just to clarify, does that mean that silver gold users become gold users on all games until launch or only on the demo?

Looking at the quote, I think it's just for the demo?

The way they phrased that is so confusing. It sounds like you get free XBL Gold, but then again, it never actually says that. It just says you get access to the ME3 demo multiplayer.

I would be surprised if they actually gave free Gold for that long. I remember for the Reach beta, it was only for 3 days, and all you got was access to the multiplayer beta.

The guy from Bioware (or is he just a community rep?) seems to think you get access to Gold, but it could just be based off the quote he was sent down from Microsoft.

I found another post from the same guy later in the thread, 7th page. He clarifies that you only get access for the demo multiplayer, but it does seem to last for the entire extent of it.

There seems to be some misunderstanding here, so I'm trying to clear this up.

Is Microsoft giving players full Xbox Live Gold benefits during the demo period - including access to Netflix, ESPN, Hulu Plus and more?

No - to clarify, Microsoft is removing membership restrictions from the ME3 demo. Normally if a player does not have XBox Live Gold, they would not be able to download the demo until a week after it is released, and would not have access to the multiplayer features of the demo. In this case, all players will be able to download the demo when it releases and all players will be able to play multiplayer in the demo regardless of Xbox Live membership level starting February 14 (for early access participants) or February 17 (all other players). There are no special steps required to obtain these benefits, it will be seamless for all players. To check out all the benefits of Xbox LIVE Gold membership, try the free Gold weekend February 3rd through 5th.

So then free Gold weekend this weekend, after that the free "Gold" only applies to the ME3 multiplayer demo.

I've been waiting for this game ever since I pulled an allnighter with the ME2, could not wait for ME3. Finally that day is nearly here! I think its really cool Microsoft and Bioware are allowing people to try out the online demo no strings attached, just 'here no xbox live, no problem!' This game will totally be GOTY hands dow...... -Assuming Control-
