AMD has just released their latest 12.1 Catalyst preview driver, which includes performance improvements for Skyrim, irons out a few bugs, and also introduces new features to the Catalyst Control Center, and Stereoscopic HD3D.
Out of the new features, the most exciting is the addition of application profiles. In a nutshell, this feature lets you create a custom application profile for specific control over 3D and CrossFireX settings per game. For example, you could force a certain level of AA in Batman Arkham City, or force it off altogether in Skryim. The profiles become active when a game opens, so there's no fuss.
The Catalyst 12.1 preview driver also includes improved support for stereoscopic HD3D technology. On the desktop side, HD3D can finally scale across multiple GPUs, meaning markedly improved performance. Additionally, HD 5000 and HD 6000 series graphics cards can now support Stereo 3D mode over HDMI 1.4a connections at 1080p 30Hz.
