New character also shown, a friendly lady ghost
We've got new DmC - Devil May Cry gameplay to share today, and if nothing else, this Devil May Cry reboot is really pretty. The new trailer sends our redesigned Dante through a living, breathing city intent on killing him. As he runs through its streets and buildings, walls close in and the floor breaks away to reveal gaping chasms. It's definitely worth watching, if only to admire the gorgeous environments.
The second video is footage from the stage demo shown at this year's TGS and offers a bit more context for the first video -- sort of. The first few minutes show the demon-city before its transformation, though we're not clear on the story behind the location/creature.
Despite all this rebooting business, the combat doesn't appear to have changed much. Dante, on the other hand, is clearly a different man. He doesn't look half bad, really, just nothing like the white-haired hunter we remember.

Combat wise it's just a slower version of previous games with a more colorful world and a completely different cast. If anything I would say this is Capcom trying to reach out and strengthen relationships with the west but why reboot and make such serious changes anyways?
Other than that I see no point in this. Story wise DMC was pretty bad but salvageable (if they can continue Resident Evil they can sure as hell continue DMC), combat wise this is just a very slowed down version with more emphasis on areal combat (which could have been done on the current system), it doesn't even look like that drastic change from previous DMC games bar the new colorful looks and slow gameplay.
I just see no point, other than that the visuals look pretty and I'm glad that they changed Dante's face so it's somewhat recognizable to DMC3 Dante.
Love the music.
Love the Gameplay.
Love the blood.
Love the colors and insane city.
Hate the fag we are supposed to play with as a protagonist.

Hate that he is Dante.
Couldn't they just have made him a different person and have this e a spin-off?
Game is looking great btw.
Shouldn't try to pass this guy off as the new Dante.
Out of principle and the fact that this isn't what I wanted, I refuse to get this game, it interests me on no level and instead just angers me that they would do that to this series. This is Resident Evil all over again with older fans hating it, the newer fans loving it and some in between, except it actually had a goal which was to retool the franchise to keep it relevant. DMC was already relevant, with 4 being the highest selling entry in the series I believe (over 2 million correct?) and doing this especially in all the wrong ways is just hurting it in the end. I don't know what Capcom expects from this title but surpassing DMC4 in terms of sales of is farcry and surpassing RE5 (which is apparently their reason for this reboot) is *bleep*ing stupid on every level.
All of the quirky dialogue, brilliant action cut-scenes from Yuji Shimomura and over all gothic aesthetics and tones are gone.
Even looking at this completely separately from all other DMC games without comparisons it still looks meh.
I'm only iffy about the change on Dante because I nearly have OCD when it comes to canon in fictional universes. So, if this new installments somehow ties-in wth the rest of them, I'll be glad either way.
