Mass Effect 3 video details several class-exclusive skills
Good times ahead for Vanguards
In the latest episode of BioWare Pulse, the studio finally reveals some of the much talked-about class-exclusive heavy melee attacks in Mass Effect 3. Okay, so they don't go through every class, but two isn't too bad. Engineers will have a high-damage attack that requires very little force, with a fire-based quality that makes it perfect for slicing through heavy armor. Adepts, being reliant on biotics, use their powers to send opponents flying with an open-palm smack like some sort of futuristic Shaolin monk.
That aside, the different classes will also be getting new skills, designed to exemplify the spirit of each class. Engineers, for instance, can now lay out turrets in the middle of a fight; enemy Engineers can do the same, but an Engi-Shep can actually hack a hostile turret and turn it against the enemy. Definitely a step above the little bot in Mass Effect 2, though obviously less mobile.
Vanguards -- a community and personal favorite -- get the new "Nova" ability for their kit. Like the returning Charge ability, Nova is a close-range attack that goes by whole "high risk, high reward" mentality. Once you've closed in on an enemy (or enemies), activating Nova will take down all your protective shields to unleash them as a devastating shockwave. Yeah, it looks as cool as it sounds.
In addition to that, the new krogan "Grawl" shotgun debuts as the most accurate shotgun in the game. When fired, it shoots out a cone of spikes that embed in nearby targets, dealing the initial burst damage and creating a degen bleed effect.
Check the gameplay below. The beginning of the video also covers the previously detailed Mass Effect 3 Collector's Edition.
