Framework being laid for Final Fantasy Type-0 sequel
Type-0 selling pretty darn well during launch week probably helped
Square Enix director Hajime Tabata confirms in a recent interview with Famitsu following the very successful release of Final Fantasy Type-0 for the PlayStation Portable that while he's technically working on "nothing" at the moment, he strongly suspects to be tasked with getting right to work on a sequel to Type-0 soon enough.
In fact, Tabata explains that the "framework" for a Type-0 sequel is already being laid out. What Tabata really hopes he can work on, however, is a sequel to The 3rd Birthday.
So how successful was the Final Fantasy spin-off in Japan? The title sold some 472,253 units during launch week alone; Tabata himself seemed pleased with the software sales thus far, but naturally hopes Type-0 will end up selling even more in the long run. No English localization for Type-0 has been announced, but Tabata reportedly wanted to design the title to appeal to a North American audience as well.
