So I heard that when Crysis 2 first came out, it was a console port and had terrible graphics. Did they fix that with the DX11 update? 'Cause I've heard some people say that it still has worse graphics than Crysis 1.

Ecto5 The update helped, but not much. Game looked great to begin with, though (for the most part). In some respects Crysis is superior, however, yes. Anyway, trusting random people's opinions on the Internet is a big mistake, because they're almost always as overblown and dramatic as possible.

Crysis 1's textures were significantly better. Crysis 2 does a good job of making things look good with excessive amounts of bloom, but was ultimately held back by console-itis. I haven't played with the DX11 patch (it should have been there at launch...), but some of the screens seem to show noticeable improvements.

Uh, I want it. I wonder what hardware they're running.

Ghost ship Titanic would be cool

This looks great, but it seems they had performance issues (depending on their hardware, it might have only been that their hardware isn't as powerful as it could be, or the mod isn't well optimized).

You'd think though, that if they could go that far to make a mod for Crysis, they could disable the hud too >_>

I'd bet the performance issues were caused by the recording.

Which again, leads back to their hardware. Stuttery 1080p recording means their hardware isn't that powerful, or it's not well optimized.

The question is, how powerful is their hardware? If they're running on a 580 or better and a core i7 (say 3Ghz+), and assuming they're using FRAPS to record, then there is a lack of optimization.

Huh? The performance is probably buttery smooth with FRAPS off. And it would also depend on the speed of the hard drive where the recording is being written to.

@Xenctuary - I am perfectly capable of getting smooth performance with FRAPS though (occasional FPS dips aside, which quickly recover). Only when games are poorly optimized to I have problems.

Battlefield 3 for example, gorgeous game but also well optimized. I could record, at 1080p with framerates in the high 30's and in the 40's.

If they used the same HDD to put the recorded files that would also impact the smoothness, yeah.

Again though, it's all hardware/optimization issues. With proper hardware they should be able to get smoother recording performance unless the mod isn't well optimized (requires high end hardware just to play it smoothly, let alone record it).

So again I reiterate my question; "Is it hardware limitations or programming/texture related issues that cause the recording performance to be so low."

The poor recording performance is a symptom of something, see? I am wonder what it is a symptom of.
