Man, the specs are a more hardcore than I expected. My previous gaming PC doesn't meet the recommended specs (Dual core 2.5GHz and a Radeon 4870 512MB).

I barely miss the recommended specs with a 4870. More than likely I can still run the game on maximum settings, though graphic enhancing mods may be out of the question.

Recommended specs are usually for around Medium/Medium-high graphics though.

Yeah but it seems every game that recommends a component better than my own runs just fine on maximum settings. Hell, Crysis 2 runs fine on ultra with DX10 textures.

I think it's because they're benchmarked with a HD resolution. My screen resolution is 1680x1050.

It's still 2.5 weeks away. I hate these 'final stretch' periods before a game releases. I was sorta OK between the announcement and up until the 'month till Skyrim' period. Now, it's like I'm on the edge of my seat.

Those requirements - minimum and recommended - are pretty mild, actually. Especially for a game this recent.

I'm planning a complete rebuild of my rig, but even if I wasn't my four year-old hardware could swing this, even my 3870, and probably on high-level graphics - though I would do heavy customizations in the .ini.

Yeah, but not for Bethesda. It's a huge jump over Fallout 3 or New Vegas requirements, for example.

I agree, these specs are pretty mild. The minimum requirements basically say that just about anything can run it.

Still want more details on how it performs at different resolutions with different cards, if it's multi threaded, etc.

This should be a breeze to run on ultra.. I should have more than enough breathing room to also run several of the graphical mods too.
