Byzantine I'm starting to think most WoW players are unaware of this.

Part of Warcraft lore or not, a race of Pandas with "quaking palm" and other clichéd asian talents doesn't fit into any of WOW's themes and IMO world concept.

And the timing is just terrible, considering the success of the Kung Fu Panda movie.

I just like to point out they were in WC 3 as a cute little joke.

So I can understand why people are scratching their heads over an entire new expansion is about a "joke"

To folks who think this is silly: Draenai are from outer space.

Yeah, I know some WoW geeks would argue it's not space, just another dimension, but I think we can agree that Blizzard threw Warcraft lore out the window a long time ago.

I haven't played WoW in years, mind you, but I do recall a demand for Pandarens to be made playable... once upon a time.

Edit: I agree with Redemption that the timing is pretty terrible. Reception may have been much more favorable prior to the Kung-Fu Panda movies.

Well, I find Draenais a bit more lore-friendly than pandas. They remind me of the movie district 9.

But I'm sorry China girl. I'm not saying chinese pandas are ridiculous, but after the kung fu panda movie this expansion is a bit silly.

When I checked the blizzcon opening last night I was like.. omg what, pandaren? FINALLY, loved them in wc3 TFT. I haven't played wow in many months, but depending on how much of this hits the final deal I might give it a try again sometime. The pet battles do sound ALOT like pokemon and I thought that it could have been a good april fool's, probably something I won't spend that much time on. The new talents etc might be a good move. For now, I'll wait and see what happens.

True enough. I just can't get over the Disney feel of it. Might be because I have never actually seen an animation of a Pandaran before.

Also, what Red said. I feel like the theme of WoW had some grit left in it. Now it's starting to feel like a children's movie.

Maybe so, but I actually like the addition, and am somewhat excited by it. It's true they were only in warcraft 3 as a joke, but I loved em, heh. Now I can be a Brewmaster myself, and that will be awesome.

World of warcraft has cow people that act like native americans, short people that act irish, octopus people from space, bison people, fish people, rat people, walrus people, and other humanoid animal hybrids, but panda people that act chinese is just "too silly"...makes sense

To be honest, whenever there is a WoW expac there are always people speaking of the end and whatnot. So far it's still alive from what I can see here, alot of people speak their opinion compared to other newsposts.

I agree that they do look a bit cartoonish (pandaren). But since the wc3 orc 'campaign' I've always wanted a pandaren in WoW. And indeed, the insane amount of animals that are 'weird' are accepted and a panda isn't. I think the most people you see complaining are just not thinking things through and vent at the first thought.

They did it in an MMO environment before Pokemon did. Now, how long has Pokemon been around again? And how long has WoW been around?

Yeah, and no one said Monster battling and collecting was solely for Pokemon ONLY.

Pet Battles? Panda's? Tbh i'm liking the sound of this more and more, people try and say it doesn't fit in with the WoW themes as you called it...Bullshit to that! Panda's were in the lore and the WoW theme long before most of the other races, But i suppose haters are gunna hate, quit your bitching, Less QQ and more PEW PEW!
