This is retarded, yeah they may have been a part of lore in warcraft 3. But is blizz trying to draw 5-8yr olds into the game or what? Not only has Cataclysm only been out a year, its too early for an expansion. Slow your roll a bit, what happened to the time frame between vanilla and bc? Blizz is running out of ideas for the current expansion so hey lets put out a new one. I see a big loss in players when this expansion drops.

One of the main reasons that Blizzard announced this now is because Star Wars: The old Republic is a serious threat to WoW and they know that the adult player base is going to shrink big time when that MMO is released around December 20th 2011, which is really funny because Blizzard's patch 4.3 is due the same day so many folks are and will jump ship I myself plan to be a Sith Lord by the time WoW: MOP is out

I think Blizzard is aware of the slacking player base since Catacylsm was released things have really gone down hill and many people were expecting Archeology to be what they intended it to be which was to link all the glyphs to one large final system which crazy stats but they decided to drop it, many professions have fallen into the same path.

Many MMO's have fallowed WoW's path and in some areas have changed things to suite them so its only fair that Blizzard takes some ideas and puts them to good use.

Wow Dragosh1, pokemon has been around since 1995 or so wow came out in 2005.
You're missing the point of my previous statement. WoW has taken Pet collecting and trading and battling to the MMO environment, something Pokemon has not done successfully yet. The GTS is nowhere near this, as is Wifi trading, as you are not in a massive free roaming world with thousands of others to trade/battle/chat with at will.

Pet Battles? Panda's? Tbh i'm liking the sound of this more and more, people try and say it doesn't fit in with the WoW themes as you called it...Bullshit to that! Panda's were in the lore and the WoW theme long before most of the other races, But i suppose haters are gunna hate, quit your bitching, Less QQ and more PEW PEW!

another reason i dont regret quitting...sad -.- "lets steal an idea from another video game[pokemon]" i mean seriously, pets that kill other critters that u can collect, level and and trade with your friends....i did that shit 3 years ago on my gameboy GG blizz
They did it in an MMO environment before Pokemon did. Now, how long has Pokemon been around again? And how long has WoW been around?

Yeah, and no one said Monster battling and collecting was solely for Pokemon ONLY.

To be honest, whenever there is a WoW expac there are always people speaking of the end and whatnot. So far it's still alive from what I can see here, alot of people speak their opinion compared to other newsposts.

I agree that they do look a bit cartoonish (pandaren). But since the wc3 orc 'campaign' I've always wanted a pandaren in WoW. And indeed, the insane amount of animals that are 'weird' are accepted and a panda isn't. I think the most people you see complaining are just not thinking things through and vent at the first thought.

World of warcraft has cow people that act like native americans, short people that act irish, octopus people from space, bison people, fish people, rat people, walrus people, and other humanoid animal hybrids, but panda people that act chinese is just "too silly"...makes sense

The Pandarans are and have been a part of warcraft lore for a long time.
True enough. I just can't get over the Disney feel of it. Might be because I have never actually seen an animation of a Pandaran before.

Also, what Red said. I feel like the theme of WoW had some grit left in it. Now it's starting to feel like a children's movie.
Maybe so, but I actually like the addition, and am somewhat excited by it. It's true they were only in warcraft 3 as a joke, but I loved em, heh. Now I can be a Brewmaster myself, and that will be awesome.

When I checked the blizzcon opening last night I was like.. omg what, pandaren? FINALLY, loved them in wc3 TFT. I haven't played wow in many months, but depending on how much of this hits the final deal I might give it a try again sometime. The pet battles do sound ALOT like pokemon and I thought that it could have been a good april fool's, probably something I won't spend that much time on. The new talents etc might be a good move. For now, I'll wait and see what happens.
