I'm a Diablo addict, so I'll be purchasing this game regardless... but the majority of this stuff just seems... "Meh" at best. I don't play WoW or Starcraft so those are useless to me. And nothing, other than the Sound track and Art book, appeals to me either. If this is $70 I may grab it. Any more, and it is the basic edition for me.

I't tally it up to probably end up around $99 (though a more reasonable price would be like $80 or $85). The skull isn't all that big. The artbook is hardcover though, which is nice.

I'm getting the Skyrim set (I'm a sheep when it comes to CEs for games I like...I know it's not actually worth $150, not unless the statue happens to be very detailed). The Skyrim set is worth more that this though, even lacking the soundtrack (I don't think the 'Making of' disk for Skyrim is a BD either).

Shadow of Death Regarding Skyrim, the statue is made of PVC, and the artbook is full size. For folks who happen to be into those sorts of things, the price is worth it, I think. Obviously the items won't appeal to everyone.

I don't think the Skyrim CE set is worth $150 but I'm buying it anyway. That statue will have a place on my desk at work, next to my action figures and Armatron.

As for the Diablo III CE, eh. I love Diablo but not that much. Will definitely buy the standard edition at release. I've been waiting for this for some time.

Liege Rough approximation here, but this is how I see it...

$150 minus the price of the game leaves around $90 to account for the statue and artbook. Assuming the artbook is of good quality, subtract another $30 to $40 from that total, leaving $60 to $50 to cover the cost of the statue, which is pretty cheap for a 12' PVC of copyrighted material. I believe it also comes with a map.

Definitely a hefty price and more than a lot of folks are willing to spend, but not entirely unwarranted, imo.

Edit: Speaking of which, the article has been updated with a price for the Diablo III CE.

$100? Definitely worth the price. I'm a little shocked they're letting it go that cheaply.

Wont be buying this or basic addition. Love Diablo but, cant get past the always on internet connection. Comcast isn't the most reliable ISP but, at the same time I cant see buying a game thats dependent on something else even after activation. I dont mind time to time registration, but always on is too much.

Phew! $100 is way to much. But since you put $99.99 I may have to get this Diablo 3 CE

I'm with you on the persistent connection BS. I'm buying the game so the devs get their money, but you better believe I'll be using a frowned upon method to bypass it.

This collectors edition isn't that exciting, which is disappointing for such a highly anticipated game from such a big developer.

Its worth probably comes down to the quality of the skull. If it's metallic and has a decent weight to it then I think it's definitely worth getting, but if it's just plastic and rather cheap looking then probably not. The soul stone USB flash drive just looks tacky and is something I'd never use.

As for the always on internet requirement, I'd say that has to do with the way random and unique items are generated because of the proposed market place (or auction house). Because you can make money from these items by trading and selling, Blizzard need a way to control the system from top to bottom to prevent people from fraudulently generating items themselves.

Finally, $100 is a lot better than the ridiculously over inflated Australian games market (and CDs and DVDs and books and pretty much EVERYTHING). It costs nearly $150 here despite the AUD being higher than the US$.
