Speaking at a recent press conference in Tokyo, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada briefly touched on the efforts of improving Final Fantasy XIV. If you recall, FFXIV was met with negative reception due to many issues at its release, prompting a major effort from Square Enix to add features and fix problems with the MMORPG.
Work on refining FFXIV continues to this day, which "amounts to fully redoing the game, and hope to revive the FFXIV that should have been released," according to Wada. Wada then went on to admit that FFXIV's troubles has "greatly damaged" the Final Fantasy brand.
On a lighter note, FFXIV players will soon be able to take on the fire elemental Ifrit in the upcoming 1.19 update. Version 1.19 rolls out to Japanese players on October 5 and later to international players. Here's a short clip of Ifrit in action:
