Good news, everyone! Looks like LucasArts and EA have finally settled on a release date for BioWare's incredibly well-hyped MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. The upcoming spiritual successor to Knights of the Old Republic will be out just prior to Christmas, on December 20.
A bit late for Christmas shopping, but it does ensure that all you MMO players will have something to do over the Christmas holiday -- other than overeating and spending time with loved ones.
Pre-orders are still going on, with multiple versions at your disposal. Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Collector's Edition details (including pricing) can be found here. Additionally, pre-ordering Old Republic will earn you a redemption code to unlock Early Game Access, which allows you to play prior to December 20 -- or December 22, if you're in Europe. Remember that you actually have to redeem the code beforehand.
Every copy of the game comes with 30 days of play time, though after that, you'll need to pay the subscription fee in order to continue playing. Paying per month costs $15, though paying for three months at a time drops that down to $14. Buy six months' of play time and you can shave another dollar off the fee.
As previously mentioned, Old Republic will not use EA's Origin client.
