Shadow Complex was truly one hell of a game, so when developers Epic Games and Chair Entertainment promised a sequel was on the way, we were understandably pleased. During a recent interview, Epic's Cliff Bleszinski remarked that Shadow Complex 2 is "actually largely designed," and that the studios were just looking for a "partner" to finish things up.
"Shadow Complex 2 is sitting there, it's actually largely designed, we just need to find a partner that will help us to finish it so we can bring it to market."
Chair had actually begun working on Shadow Complex 2 shortly after the first game was released, but they put the project on hold to put out Infinity Blade, a rather well-rated iOS title.
Chair spokesperson Laura Mustard clarified on CliffyB's statement a bit, noting that they still didn't have a publisher for Shadow Complex 2.
"In regards to the 'looking for partners' comment, it's likely Cliff was referring to a potential publishing partner. Given the tremendous popularity of Shadow Complex, there's a ton of interest in a sequel and plenty more we'd like to do in that universe. We're confident we'll revisit when the right opportunity presents itself."
No time frame was given for when the game might be released. Creative Director Donald Mustard also stated previously that the studio was not looking to expand Shadow Complex to iOS, due to the control scheme.
