Monster Hunter 4 trailer showcases dragon creature chase

Hunting down beasts is easier said than done

One of the major surprises coming out of Nintendo's recent trade conference is Monster Hunter 4 making its way to the 3DS. Capcom released a trailer that gives an early look at Monster Hunter 4's smooth visuals while showcasing a lone hunter being chased by a Tigrex then later encountering a Rathalos.

If you've never played Monster Hunter before, you should realize hunting down beasts is never as easy as just walking up to the creature in their lairs. These monsters can be found anywhere in the wild and will give chase to anything that dares to attack them.

Tigrex is the tiger looking one (the one thats charging in the video), the rathalos is the red dragon that the hunter climbed upon and stabbed.

yea i was the same way. then i just said screw it i'll be cheap as possible and bring 5 flash bombs, a shock trap and pit trap, combo books and materials to make more shock traps ad flash bombs. he didn't stand a chance.

Lol yep. And after I got narga armor I would just dodge and laugh at him the whole quest.

Also of note, this may be the largest Monster Hunter yet.

I noticed a larger amount of destructive obstacles and platforms, any cliff was scalable, and there were no transitions to various areas, it all seemed to be one large freeroaming area(from when Hunter jumped to the cliff, to Rath's back, and then they crashed far below the cliff). Also apparently we can ride the monsters temporarily to dish some damage out, or carve, since the Hunter used his knife.

The thing is, this was easy for them to incorporate as you are just clinging to the rotten looking textures. Isn't this going to be on the Vita aswell? If so, then dynamic lighting and high-res textures wouldn't go amiss.
