The PC is often thought of as having a minority audience, but Valve is one company that's long been turning stereotypes on their head. The latest example: Portal 2, which as it turns out, has sold better on PC than consoles.
This is not to say it always happens, though: Left 4 Dead sold best on consoles, for example. Founder Gabe Newell says, "We just try to build good games and then we tend to be surprised. We don't try to guess, because we're not sure what value there is to guessing."
He goes on to say they've got no plans to build something specifically for consoles, because more important matters are often at hand.
"We're glad that people want to play our games wherever they want to play."
Portal 2 sold three million copies total on all platforms in June.
