Yeah I'm going to buy a new computer to play a new game. Keep your pc elitism bollocks to yourself, let people play them how they want. Looking forward to hearing more about this; provided of course the PC players who lack the ability to play on consoles keep their opinions to themselves.

It isn't elitism; it's a fact, Counter-Strike requires more precision than most FPSes present today.

Nobody has meant to be offensive, just that as glados said, CS is an incredibly precision-based shooter. As Shadowrun so well proved in the past with it's failures, Keyboard and mouse is far more precise than a controller. While what people are comfortable with will always come down to preference, what is the better option for the FPS genre has already been proven, both in theory and practice. If somebody really wants to buy a CS game on a console, more power to them, and I hope they have a blast. But your comment, in short, is rather backwards.

Like I said I'll be getting this for the ps3, and as long as I'm not up against mouse and keyboard players I think I'll have a good time with it.

The source engine still has some of the lowest system reqs for AAA games. If you don't have something better than a pentium 4 and integrated graphics then you've got bigger problems than the PC elitists here.

I'd play it on the console only because I'm tired of all the damn career counter-strike players who can shoot a fly from a mile away.

At least on the console, there's a limit to the amount of aiming skill you can have.

Regardless of one particular version having the edge over another, it does not actually mean that it requires more skill to be better. Quite the inverse, actually. As to making the bone headed comment about playing CSS, I think it's time you learned to read - I said new game. Currently for work I have my laptop and for gaming I have my PS3. Does the job, and I'm not going to consider setting aside the money on the run to christmas just to play on a computer when its also on the PS3.

Nobody ever raised the point that it took more skill to be better for the PC version. It was the opposing point that was raised, multiple times, including the comment directly above yours.

Chill out a bit, no need to get so heated.

Heated? What on earth? Live a little bit before saying somethings heated.

As to skill, skill, precision, both terms are bandied around equally and interchangeably by those extolling the virtues of the PC.

Also, this new CS is apparently still run on the Source engine - hence the "bone-headed comment" you're referring to. I think its the same (or similar) to the version used in Portal 2... so it could probably be run quite easily on the average laptop.
And I would say it is a lot harder to become a leader in a PC FPS than it is to become a leader in a console FPS, entirely because of the limitations of the latter platform's control system. Do not try and argue that there is more skill involved due to the system itself being less accurate... such a claim is self-defeating!
And yes, as Lorx says. Calm down. We're not attacking your platform of choice, merely wondering how a game like CounterStrike would ever work on it.

EDIT: Ninja'd. And your tone is confrontational, undeniably.

nteresting how you can interpret my state of agitation based on a series of words without intonation or expression. And more skill in being less accurate - there is in that you have to compensate without being a twitch shooter. You aren't better at anything in life unless you can overcome limitations. It's why there's no skill transfer between playing on say CoD on console compared to PC, other than experience based skill reliance, such as map knowledge and weapon capabilities etc.

As for bone headed comment - I said new game. Not CSS, CSGO, or whatever else there may well be. New game in general, a catch all term.

You have such a way with words Traf, it's like music.

PC Requirements for Portal 2:
OS: Windows 7 / Vista / XP
Processor: 3.0 GHz P4, Dual Core 2.0 (or higher) or AMD64X2 (or higher)
Memory: 1GB XP / 2GB Vista
Hard Disk Space: At least 7.6 GB of Space
Video: Video card must be 128 MB or more and should be a DirectX 9-compatible with support for Pixel Shader 2.0b (ATI Radeon X800 or higher / NVIDIA GeForce 7600 or higher / Intel HD Graphics 2000 or higher).
Audio: DirectX 9.0c compatible

That's lower than I'd thought it would be. I'm rather surprised Valve managed that.
Would assume CSGO will be a higher requirement, to account for the higher amount of players within a match, but shouldn't be too far above that if you're right Traf.

it's not an argument it's just a fact that the PC offers more precision..
