Atlus earlier beamed that Catherine, its action platformer-meets-adventure for the PS3 and Xbox 360, set a new publisher record for the amount of copies shipped during launch week. Now the publisher is ready to commit to bearing the straight facts by confirming launch week sales of 200,000 units ... through a cake (don't worry, its not DLC).
Unit sales of 200,000 copies is a serious milestone for a publisher like Atlus. It will be interesting to see if the publisher will be forced to place orders for additional stock to meet demand like it did with Demon's Souls (representing another first for the publisher).
Perhaps Atlus was much better prepared for a strong reception to Catherine this time around, and judging from today's cake announcement, they prepared wisely.
