Patch 4.2 came out after these numbers were taken. And more people leave during the summer than any other time, these 300,000 will probably be back, the other 600,000 probably wont. The 600,000 that wont be back are just upset with how blizzard did this expansion probably, less "casual friendly" in their words. We are also at the third expansion, lots of people are getting burnt out if they weren't earlier. And last, if the new expansion is about pandas, that will suck.
edit: AND ALSO, the expansion did not come out in china until after these numbers were taken.

They would still have my subscription if they had not banned my account for botting. I quit playing WOW after that.

Just get Diablo out, Wow has become a community of bully's,racists, and haters. Too much content pushing constantly on the raiding front when people do not have that time to focus. Not enough for casual players not enough incentive to play. Inflated Auction Houses. Blizz has lost focus on what this used to be a community.

Locktite..... if you can't stand the heat, get out of WoW lol. Not all of WoW is comprised of trolls, assholes,etc.. There are also tons of cool and nice people that help each other out and have a good time. And Inflated AH prices are different each realm. So are the people. You just have to find the right one. And I really don't think Blizzard has lost focus. If they lost focus they would lose money. Sure they have a loss of paying customers but part of the people that left come back. And WoW is still going strong. If anything, blizzard has become bigger and better.

I found I got bored of Cataclysm pretty damn fast. It also feels like Blizzard is taking too long to release content patch's. That was the main reason I stopped playing.

The game got old for me a while ago. So I've been part of that 600k as described above. They repeat the same pattern too much with dungeon etc. If they would think about something new they might've kept my interest.

All this time people have been looking for a WoW killer and it turns out to be greed and boredom, go figure.

Some people just grow up and don't have the time to sit and play for hours on end. I use to play since before Burning Crusade came out and quit about three months after. Love the game, wish I could get back into it, but its a big time suck. I had a level 70 warlock and 70 Paladin and hunter (don't remember the level)

What can you say? Lots of free to play mmo are popping out once and then every week and 70% of them are really attractive and seducing, why pay when u can play free just the same?

Runes of Magic for example is a free to play ripoff (hard blood ripping off the meat) of WOW. And it is totally FREE, won't you ditch WoW for that?

I'd rather have a MUCH polished game that costs money than a cheeply made free game. Runes of Magic just wasn't good, it was boring.

Everyones leaving because its turned into a piece of crap.

The gameplay is more of the same repetitive nonsense, but the dev's dont care about peoples grievances. It gets tiring leveling up a new Toon only to be killed over and over and over in Battlegrounds. Or kill everything in a dungeon in two hits.

I hate to use the word 'unbalanced', but that is exactly what leveling has become. Nothing should die in one hit, but everything does.

And you level out of zones too quickly, deathwing blow as a villain... and healers at 85 are hilarious.

Maybe Runes of Magic is boring, but it is not cheaply made, it is a high budget game. Also you got another free mmorpg with a 12 million dollar budget, Allods.
