For the latest Deus Ex: Human Revolution trailer, Eidos and Square decided to something a little different. Rather than show gameplay or any other sort of in-game footage, they put together a fake anti-augmentation propaganda advertisement. Sounds cheesy, doesn't it? Well, that's because you haven't seen it yet.
This live action trailer is meant to be viewed as an advert by the in-game activist group Purity First. As the name implies, Purity First is opposed to the rampant, irresponsible use of augments, like replacing perfectly healthy body parts with high tech prosthetics -- a disturbing trend that manufacturers like Sarif Industries are encouraging.
The "ad" also gives us a better understanding of society in the year 2027, at least in the Deus Ex universe. Technology always has a habit of coming back to bite us in the ass, doesn't it?
