Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 content won't be offered as DLC update
Everyone will need to grab the complete game on physical disc later this November
Just in case you didn't see this coming or were holding on to to some glimmer of hope over it, but Capcom currently has no plans to offer the new content planned for the recently announced Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 as a downloadable update for existing Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds owners on PS3 and Xbox 360. Producer Ryota Niitsuma explains, and apparently as was the case with Super Street Fighter 4, the sheer amout of stuff promised for UMvC3 made it hard to slap it into one downloadable update:
"Right now, we’re only thinking about releasing a disc version. Given the development schedule, there wasn’t enough time to work out all of the details to release it as downloadable content, as well. Also, for the reason you mentioned, there is so much data in the game it was easier to go this route"
UMvC3 is set to feature new stages and 12 new playable characters drawn from both Marvel Comics and Capcom lore; apparently these have been leaked real early this time around, and include the likes of Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, Vergil, and Phoenix Wright. And still no Mega Man to show for it.
The game will launch later this November for $39.99 USD with a choice of three alternate costume packs depending on which retailer you pre-order UMvC3 from. Pre-purchase the brawler at GameStop to get a set of alt costumes for the ladies, for example.
