Looks like Dragon Age II will be getting its first major content add-on earlier than we expected. The "Legacy" DLC will be released to all platforms on July 26 for an unsurprising $10 (or 800 MP), and BioWare is promising much tougher gameplay.
"Legacy" takes Hawke and his/her friends beyond Kirkwall to all-new areas, including a Grey Warden prison housing some kind of powerful ancient evil. Apparently, this evil is so great that even the Wardens could not defeat it, instead sealing it away for a thousand years (give or take). Expect to tackle new Darkspawn -- such as the hulking shield-wielding Genlock Alpha -- and learn the "harsh truth" about Hawke's lineage. Because Hawke clearly hasn't gone through enough crap.
In addition to the new enemy types, the enemy AI is supposed to be more challenging this time around, utilizing the environment to its advantage. Overall, players should find more tactical challenges in "Legacy," including mini-boss encounters. During the demo at EA's summer conference, we saw a Pride demon that could replicate itself several times, for instance.
The DLC also includes a class-specific weapon that you can customize and take back to Kirkwall for future adventuring.
