It's Friday and we've got a nice treat for you guys to finish up the week. Rocksteady put out a lengthy 12-minute piece of gameplay footage for Batman: Arkham City that shows off quite a few new features. Watch the Caped Crusader attempt to rescue Catwoman from Two-Face and learn a little bit more about the uprising in the city:
We're very briefly shown Catwoman in action, who relies on fancy kicks and flips far more than Batman does. She can use her bullwhip to hit enemies that are a fair distance from her and has her own set of combo takedowns. You can see more of Catwoman in her own gameplay trailer.
Batman has learned some new ways to defend himself during fights such as hurling objects tossed at him and briefly using weapons held by thugs to strike back at them. Discovering Riddler secrets makes a lot more sense this time, requiring you to hold off on beating up a certain goon so you're able to interrogate them. Once you've got the info, it's time for a knockout.
And if you think Arkham City is all serious and no fun, watch the scene with Batman being straight with Jack Ryder. Speaking of Ryder, we think there might be a chance of him being transformed into his Creeper alter-ego considering Hugo Strange is doing experiments on Arkham City's inhabitants. Whether or not Ryder himself gets experimented on remains to be seen.
As for the odd garbled speech near the end, we're not sure what to make of it. Could be Rocksteady's not-so-subtle way of hiding spoilers until Arkham City is released.
Batman: Arkham City releases October 18 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. A Wii U version of Arkham City arrives in 2012.
