E3 2011 saw the debut of thatgamecompany's Journey, a gorgeous-looking adventure game that tasks players with the simple premise of heading toward a mountain in the distance. There's no need to worry about survival or killing enemies so just keep on marching towards that mountain while doing some exploring on the way.
Journey can be played online and you can partner up with one other player if you manage to cross paths with them. The catch here is there are no PlayStation Network IDs seen, no chat, and no lobbies or matchmaking. Communication is done through your character's actions.
A beta for Journey begins today and PlayStation 3 owners can participate if they can meet some very specific requirements. You'll need to have an active PlayStation Plus subscription and be one of the first who bought Flower when it was released. Watch your XMB inbox for an invite.
The Journey beta runs until July 12. The full version of Journey will be released later in 2011 as a downloadable title from PlayStation Network.
