Why is everything similar to Borderlands level up system?

ButchSmudge ...and why does everyone need to compare games of different genres?
The graphics I'm assuming are just in beta stages but yes they don't look very clean or crisp.
Personally the chick looks more awesome than both the playable dudes.

yes but borderlands is FPS whilst X Men: Destiny is a third person action roleplayer. Borderlands didn't create that style of leveling up you know, it's an RPG classic.

I know. It's just a lot of games I've seen lately have had RPG elements. And Borderlands was the first, so I'm basing everything on that.

RPG elements have been invading other genres since long before Borderlands. Developers realised a long time ago that the self gratifying aspects of RPGs increase addiction and what not. Helps sell DLC, sequels etc.

Borderlands was first? Never heard of Devil May Cry? Sure it didn't introduce all element but DMC was one the first.

I worded that wrong. I meant it was the first RPG element game I really remember. Not the first actual RPG game.

When I first saw the teaser trailer for this game, I got the impression that we'd get to create our own mutant and play through a story where we make moral choices between the X-Men and the Brotherhood. Sort of a Dragon-Age mixed with Infamous sort of deal. But once again we're dumped with someone else's characters in a game that plays on the concept of actions being of our choosing yet doesn't let us pave that path with our own person. It irks me whenever I see a game marketed on the idea of giving power to the player, giving them the ability to make what are supposed to be meaningful choices and then tripping over that last hurdle and making the gamer play as someone else than themselves. It isn't really our choice, or our destiny because it just isn't our character. There are a million other games out there where we get to play as someone else's super-hero/super-villain (Infamous being one of the best and most enjoyable ones) how about actually giving us our own super-hero for once? I can't be the only person tired of playing with someone else's character on these kinds of games can I?
Still the game doesn't look that good anyway, not normally one to jump on the base a game on its graphics band-wagon but they really are shoddy and the brief glimpses of gameplay don't look that appealing either.

It's about time they released more info on this game. Honestly,I was hoping you'd be able to make your own X-man,but at least being able to customize them will be nice.
