Nintendo has set up at the Nokia Theater to reveal their Project Café platform and future game line-up for Wii and 3DS.
9:05: Nintendo begins with a montage of Zelda clips and a song performed by an orchestra. 2011 is The Legend of Zelda's 25th anniversary.
9:09: Montage shows footage of Skyward Sword. Link is seen riding on some large birds. Shigeru Miyamoto steps up.
9:11: The song played was Skyward Sword's theme. The orchestra plays a few familiar sound effects. Miyamoto follows along with some hand movements. Miyamoto doesn't hold back how happy he is to be there.
9:15: The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure will be available as free DSiWare in September. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is on sale through the 3DS eShop starting today.
9:16: Skyward Sword debuts in the holiday 2011 season along with a special gold-colored Wii Remote Plus.
9:18: Nintendo is hosting worldwide Zelda symphony concerts to celebrate Zelda's 25th Anniversary. In addition, Ocarina of Time soundtracks will be given to those who register Ocarina of Time 3D with Club Nintendo early. Various other activites are planned.
9:21: Orchestra belts out a short Skyward Sword tune. Both themes they've played sound dramatic. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata steps to the stage.
9:24: Iwata mentions their next platform is intended to appeal to a wider audience than Wii.
9:25: An animated montage of upcoming 3DS games. Mario Kart 3DS has hang-gliders attached to the karts. Tanooki Suit in Super Mario 3DS. Luigi's Mansion showing up as well.
9:27: Reggie Fils-Aime appears.
9:28: Mario Kart 3D shown first. Drivers include Bowser, Toad, DK, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Koopa. First-ever underwater track gives the karts a propeller on the engine. Hang-gliders help karts float down long distances. Releasing Holiday 2011.
9:30: Starfox 64 3D up next. Can fly Arwings with Circle Pad or tilting the 3DS. Arrives September.
9:32: Super Mario 3D showcased. Plays out like Super Mario 64 with Galaxy visuals. Leaf power-up transforms Mario into Tanooki Mario, not Raccoon Mario. Battleship stage seen. Out in 2011.
9:34: Kid Icarus: Uprising trailer shown. Features a multiplayer mode and makes use of AR cards for battles. Releasing in 2011.
9:37: Up next is Luigi's Mansion 2. Luigi's still has his vacuum cleaner and flashlight on hand.
9:38: Reggie moving on to third-party 3DS releases. Montage trailer shows Resident Evil: The Mercenaries, Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Ace Combat 3D, Tetris, Cave Story 3D, Resident Evil: Revelations, Driver Renegade, Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions, Tekken 3D, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D.
9:41: Some talk on the free Excitebike 3D and Pokédex 3D games from the eShop.
9:44: Wii U console and controller revealed. Functions as a sort of tablet PC with touch capabilities. Video signal from Wii U console can be streamed to Wii U screen. Capable of video conferencing. Coming in 2012.
9:50: Controller screen size is 6.2 inches diagonally. Promotional image shows DS/3DS-style dual-screen setup: TV acts as top screen, Wii U acts as touch screen. Has two Circle Pads. Iwata stresses Wii U controller is not meant to be a portable game machine. Wii U controller can be attached to the Wii Zapper accessory.
9:55: Super Smash Brothers in development for Wii U and 3DS. Both versions can interact with each other.
9:59: Various conceptual games are being shown on the E3 showfloor. They're prototypes, not actual retail titles.
10:02: Open-world LEGO City Stories coming to Wii U, looks like a Grand Theft Auto-type game for kids from the screens shown. Wii U game montage begins.
10:04: Darksiders II, Batman: Arkham City, Ghost Recon Online, Assassin's Creed: Revelations confirmed for Wii U.
10:05: Darksiders II shows large environments. DIRT, Aliens: Colonial Marines briefly shown. Ghost Recon Online has first and third-person views.
10:07: Metro Last Light FPS shown. Tekken Wii supports doodling tattoos and drawings on your character.
10:08: Finally, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razer's Edge shown. That montage was nothing but one good game after another.
