Microsoft offering students free 360 with PC purchase, teases with Halo
Master Chief makes a hilarious cameo
Summer hasn't begun, but the current school year is ending for many. Whether you're heading to college or staying on the same campus next year, Microsoft has one helluva deal for you. Should you find yourself needing a new computer -- or just an OS upgrade -- the company is eager to get you hooked on Windows 7. As such, students who pick up a Windows 7 PC priced above $699 will receive a free Xbox 360 4GB console.
The PC itself is totally up to you, though Microsoft has a few suggestions on their official blog. There are restrictions as to where you buy and how you may redeem your free 360, however. If you're planning to buy a PC online, you'll need to shop from HP.com, Dell.com, or the Microsoft Store. Should you prefer choosing your rig in-person, Best Buy and any Microsoft Store will do, though the latter might be more difficult to come by.
Then there's the whole "prove you're a student" issue. The deal is only eligible to actual students, so you'll need an .edu address for online shopping or a student ID, if you're heading to an actual store. Now, watch the amusing little advertisement from Microsoft. It's awfully cute.
The offer will begin on May 22 in the United States, then later in Canada and France.

I'm American but I must agree.
I am in the process of buying a new PC too, this would've just meant that I would've spent more on Microsoft products.
Grrr, this brony isn't happy.
You could probably save more than enough money to buy an xbux by building your own rig though.
I WANT IT NOW!
So, MS ought to give me a shiny 250GB Xbox 360 because I deserve it...Please please Santa
I checked on laptops from HP and Dell. HP doesn't appear to be offering Sandy Bridge processors in their laptops yet.
