Oddworld: The Hand of Odd revived, Stranger's Wrath HD delayed

Two of many projects in the works

We knew Oddworld Inhabitants and recent partner Just Add Water had five Oddworld games in the pipe, and now another has been revealed: The Hand of Odd. Longtime fans will remember this one as the canned strategy title originally announced in 1998.

In reviving the title, JAW is making it "more casual rather than more intense"; work is based on "three-inch thick design documents created in the nineties." Expect a full 3D respective, as with modern strategy games.

Platforms haven't been decided upon yet, but they're considering iPad, Android, Facebook, PC and Mac -- console releases are unlikely due to the nature of the genre.

Meanwhile that HD version of Stranger's Wrath we mentioned has been delayed due to the extra work it took to get that and Munch's Oddysee in properly playable and enhanced form on PC -- expect it this summer. As a reward for your patience, there will be support PlayStation Move, 3D, and automatic YouTube uploads, plus a mysterious "Feature X."

Lastly, the HD version of Abe's Oddysee is set to start production in August.

I remember this. I'm glad they decided to do it even after all this time. I'll be all over the HD re-release of Oddysee too. The PS1 Oddworld games were always a little heart-warming somehow. Good for casual gaming to kill time, fun when I wanted to play a platformer, and somehow was perfect for a rainy day or a sick day when I stayed home from school; always good for a laugh.
