Dragoshi1 No doubt they are, and while I am not accusing Bethesda of doing such, it's important to note that many companies do touch-up assets to varying degrees before releasing them.

My whole problem with it is that PC gamers seem to feel entitled to better graphics or what have you. Not many developers do that, DICE, Crytek and a few others not withstanding. Most developers aren't going to spend the extra money building a game specifically for the PC and then port it to other consoles. It takes a lot of money to make the game work on a console. PC is superior, yes, but honestly I get tired of the high and mighty attitude PC gamers seem to have.

That said, I am in love with the new Khajiit. They look so much better than before. I like the orc better too. I can't wait to explore Skyrim's beautiful world.

I think it is mostly caused because PC's simply are capable of alot more, because they aren't restricted to a standard set of hardware over a long period. So consoles fall behind rapidly, even a low priced computer bought at the same time as a console will be able to do much more. And I'm not really sure how companies make textures and make use of shading systems etc.. but I often get the feeling they make it HD and then resize or compress it so consoles can work with it.

While I think every system should be tweaked to offer the best possible graphics for that system, there's also the problem of staying loyal to the fans that made your company. It's the equivalent of a band selling out in the music industry. Come to think of it it's worse, as the industry as a whole has done this, except for a few companies.

The Biggest issue with consoles is Lack of Memory and the storage medium, I.E. the disk. Blu-ray doesn't have as much of an issue but DVD does. Still, it bothers me that PC gamers these days, seem to want everyone to bow before them. Besides, while many PCs can run games Decently. DX10 and DX11 are Vista and Windows 7 exclusive. Shit tons of people are still running XP [like myself]. With PC games you almost have to choose, accessibility or high tech, cause not everyone has a machine that can run a high end game. Say, Crysis as an example. OR When Battlefield 3 comes out, that will most likely make a lot of gaming rigs cry for mercy. Liek I said, I just don't like the attitude.

DevilDogDave 22% of Steam users are running XP; Vista is 24%; Windows 7 is 46%. Thing is a lot of people would still be on old hardware if it wasn't for developers pushing DX10/11 features...there's a point where you have to give people incentive to upgrade instead of only thinking about what's already available. This applies now a bit to operating systems with a few DX10/11 exclusive games, but we'll really start to see it when BF3 hits. Games can support all DX versions, though, so it's not a restriction in that sense.

As for the attitude, some are snobby about it but I think most just want to get what they paid for. It'd be something like buying an Xbox 360 and getting Wii-standard graphics...any snobbery aside, you're simply not getting what you paid for.

you also have to think, this is nowheres near the finished product.. what if they finish the bulk of the main work and decide to revise the graphics a bit.. who knows.. ITS A LONG WAY TO 11.11.11

Mark Publishers are generally very paranoid about showing assets to the public. As mentioned above, it's to the point where some of them touch up or "doctor" assets to create a better impression. As such, there shouldn't be any truly significant changes between now and launch.
