Of the few places we've seen in Konami's upcoming Silent Hill: Downpour, the Devil's Pit is probably one of the more original, in terms of Silent Hill environments. Hey, abandoned mine -- what could possibly go wrong?
The place is poorly lit, which comes as no surprise, being an old mine and all. Perfect place to point that flashlight around, though the screenshots don't actually show Murphy wielding a portable light source. The tunnels do appear to still have power, judging by those old lamps, but we'd really feel more comfortable going in with a trusty flashlight.
On the outside, the Devil's Pit actually looks rather pretty, though sunsets tend to have that effect. In addition to the old mine, Murphy will also be rummaging around motels and diners (of course). Czech developer Vatra Games already expressed a desire to emphasize exploration in the new Silent Hill, so larger and more robust environments are a given.
With Akira Yamaoka no longer a part of Konami, the publisher has enlisted Dexter composer Daniel Licht to work on Downpour's musical score.
