Atlus RPG Persona 4 is getting an animated adaptation thanks in part to Japanese production company Aniplex. The show will be directed by Seiji Kishi, known for his work on other anime series such as Angel Beats! and My Bride is a Mermaid.

Aniplex has signed on Persona 4's voice actors to reprise the roles of Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko, and Yu (the protagonist) for the show. Persona 4 music composer Shoji Meguro will be on hand to provide the soundtrack.

Persona 4's story centers around a group of high school students who discover a world accessed through TV sets and its possible connection with unexplained murders in the real world. The students make use of beings known as Personas to investigate the link between the TV world and the murders while tracking down the culprit behind the killings.

Persona: Trinity Soul is based on Persona 3 and it took place 10 years after the events in the game. I hear it's not that great and whatever happened in TS is considered non-canon.

It's not even really based on Persona 3 and as far as I'm aware all you get is a cameo from one of the characters...still, Persona 3 has been milked to hell and back and would really make for a poor anime.

Awesome, but I just can't shake this sinking feeling I've got about this project. Maybe it's because all the promo art and casting announcements have only been for half the cast?

That was my initial reaction too, but then I realized that if they're treating this like a show, then they may want to hold back on highlighting the future characters. As it is, Yu, Yosuke, and Chie are all that's necessary to move the protagonist into the new world, both literally and plot-oriented. Why Yukiko's there and Teddy's not, however, I'll leave to the show's reasoning.
