The Nintendo 3DS' North American debut is nearly here and Nintendo wants its fans to commemorate the launch with lengthy launch events in the U.S. and Canada. If you're going to be around Union Square in New York or TD Square in Vancouver on March 26, consider stopping by to take part in the festivities and sampling some 3DS games.
The TD Square event (located at Granville Street and Georgia Street) kicks off at 6 p.m. with the first visitors getting t-shirts and toques to keep their heads warm in the cool Canadian nights. At midnight, head over to the Future Shop at Robson Street and Granville Street (southwest from TD Square) to pick up a 3DS. Nintendo will be turning off the lights at TD Square from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. to observe Earth Hour 2011.
For New York visitors, head on over to Union Square Park at noon for the festivities that last until 8 p.m. Afterwards, visit the Best Buy store at Union Square (across the street from Union Square Park) at 9 p.m. to be greeted by Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime and enjoy some music by The HOTcakes. The first 300 people who buy a 3DS will get a special carrying case.
Both the TD Square and Union Square Park events will have demo units on hand to let attendees try out a couple of 3DS games like Pilotwings Resort, nintendogs + cats, Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, and LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.
