"Also, the generation of Guilty Gear players has become a certain age – maybe a little bit too old for playing games."

...It came out in 1998. I was 8 years old at the time, putting me (and most other gamers I know) in the "generation of Guilty Gear players."

I certainly remember playing it with friends. Ouch. Better pack up our consoles guys, looks like we're too old for games. =P

R.I.P. Guilty Gear. Luckily I still have Guilty Gear XX Reload on the regular xbox. Overture and even Dust Strikers on the DS were the final 2 nails on the coffin for Guilty Gear in my book. BlazBlue is good but I wanted Sol Badguy, I-No, Dizzy, and Johnny back for one more round. HEAVEN OR HELL!!

At least now I can finish my GG Game collection without them adding more revamps to XX

    Sucks for the fans.

Still waiting on a price reduction on the PC BlazBlue game (not to mention it coming to steam as well)...

Mori and Ishiwatari themselves confirmed that there would be a new GG game somewhere down the road a couple weeks ago at a France event. You can find the translated interview on Dustloop.

Unless Mr./Mrs. Sung can provide adequate proof of what they supposedly reported on being true, I'm calling bullshit.

So ASW implies that weeaboos who pretend to be good fighting games is a more profitable market than old people who make six digit salaries?

Daisuke is just salty that Isuka and Dust Strikers were absolute failures.
Also agreeing w/ Sir Loin here, as this just seems like an attempt to gauge fan interest.

I get the feeling that GG fans would complain incessantly about a new GG anyway. It wouldn't be GGAC balanced and I get the feeling you'd see the MvC3 effect of "It's not balanced even though it's only been out for 3 hours I can tell!"

Daisuke is going to learn the hard way when someone tells him the average age of gamers is between 18 and 36 years old. Most people that grew up with Guilty Gear are in the perfect age demographic to enjoy it more now than ever.

    I actually didn't mind Isuka.

It's true though that when people get a certain age, they stop playing.

I'm not quite sure what age that is though. For a lot of people, it's 18. My friends, who were huge video game fans, suddenly went off to college and are now "too busy" to play games.

Hm, why don't they just start over Guilty Gear? Actually, just keep going. I mean, look at King of Fighters, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken...these are games with age as well, and they still have new titles coming out. It's a poor excuse, really.

Damn, I'm going to miss Ky Kiske. I hope the fans unite and show this team just how much they want a new Guilty Gear.

In the meantime, I will say that I enjoy the BlazBlue series. Story's engaging, and that's saying something for a fighting game.

@MrGrimm - SOME people stop playing when they get to a certain point in their life. Adult gamers are a huge segment of the market though, so it clearly doesn't apply to all of us. I'm in my 20's for example.

Sir Loin, the proof is in the source (Eurogamer). The words question was asked by one of their interviewers, and the answer was provided by Daisuke Ishiwatari.

CABINET SMASHER, it's absolutely plausible. While Ishiwatari may be saying today that there won't be any more Guilty Gear (though the way the question and answer were phrased, sounds like it was something he announced some time ago), Arc may change their minds given enough fan demand.

Similarly, NAMCO once said Soul Calibur IV would be the final SE/SC installment. Now, Soul Calibur V is in development.

I completely disagree. My friends and I are all in our 20's, I am 26 myself, and some of us game as hardcore as ever, if not more so. I know tons of gamers who are older than me. Your friends are just weird.

And I hope this is just Daisuke trolling to make fans demand a new Guilty Gear, because it better not be done. We need a new good hardcore fighter. I am sick of all the slowing down going on in fighting games in recent years. I want my fast paced, heavy metal laced, hardcore Guilty Gear back!

I don't think Namco said that SCIV was the final SC exactly. They said that they felt the series was coming to a close, but SCIV's 'story' didn't wrap up...anything, and it had Star Wars characters.

But yeah, I'm sure with enough fan interest they'll bring back Guilty Gear, least I hope so.

In all honesty, I can see what he's getting at...sort of. I was a hardcore gamer as a kid, to a point where it really was probably an unhealthy obsession. However, as I've gotten older, while I still game, I don't do it nearly as much as I once did. Especially single player experiences. I just have too many things going on most of the time to sit down and invest 30+ hours in a solo experience. I could be using that time to do something with my friends and loved ones, or to make some cash. It's just too hard to justify.

That said, it seems kinda silly to say that those of us who are, at most, in our late twenties, are too old for an ever advancing area of hobby and tech is just silly.
