Prey was and still is one of the more innovative shooters around. With Native American and sci-fi themes blended together somehow seamlessly, along with some interesting gameplay mechanics, it's not hard to recommend.
Fans can rejoice as a sequel is coming, and a true sequel at that, as Human Head is again developing, and it will again use the id Tech engine.
Unfortunately no details about the game itself are known beyond that it will offer "fast-paced action in an open, alien world."
Publisher Bethesda's vice president Pete Hines says, "This Prey 2 is not what was announced before by anyone else. This is the Prey 2 Human Head wanted to make."
The game will launch next year on PC, PS3, and 360.
Update: despite what you may have heard via the press release, the game will not be using the latest version of the id Tech engine, but presumably its previous incarnation, id Tech 4. Hines says 5 wasn't an option as the game has been in development for "quite awhile" (it was originally announced in 2008 by 3D Realms and Radar Group), and the tech is still a work in progress. So, no Rage-quality goodness, here, unfortunately -- think more 2009's Wolfenstein, instead.
