Been a while since we heard about from Funcom about their upcoming sci-fi MMO, The Secret World, but GDC does offer more reveals in the form a trailer. And by "reveals," we mean more gameplay footage than we've ever seen before.
The video shows off members of all three secret societies -- the Dragon, Illuminati, and Templars -- and plenty of real-world places recreated in the game. Game director Rasnar Tornquist and lead content designer Joel Bylos speak at length, explaining the premise for the MMO and gameplay features that set it apart from the rest of the market; even if this is the first time you're hearing about Secret World, they've got all the bases covered.
Most interesting may be Funcom's decision to cut leveling and classes from the game, instead implementing a freer progression system. In addition to supernatural powers, players will also get to use firearms and other weapons, while traveling across the globe to notable real-world locales in search of manevolent forces.
The one thing this trailer lacks is a release date, but hey, no game ever benefited from being rushed, right?
