When Bungie stated last week at GDC that their next project would be an MMO, much of the gaming community didn't know what the hell to think. Some were happy with it, while many others weren't, but said they would still play Bungie's next multiplayer endeavor.
Well, all that is moot now, because a recent post on Bungie.net has pegged the announcement as a joke by the studios' network engineer David Aldrige. He didn't mean for it to be taken seriously and assumed everyone would see it as he did, especially with the "WoW in space" bit.
"Now, in rehearsal Aldridge was convinced that everybody got the joke," a post by Bungie rep 'urk' read. "It was all in the delivery, he assured us, and he was certain it was clear that he was playfully riffing off of the recent rumors.
"Unfortunately, most people can’t figure David out – they can’t process him. And we don’t expect them to. You can’t process David Aldridge with a normal brain. You’d need tiger blood and Adonis DNA."
