What do we know about Call of Juarez: The Cartel? Before today, not much, aside from it being a Western shooter and whatever else we assumed would carry over from the other games.
Ubisoft is now a bit more forthcoming with the information, having revealed the first game details -- mostly about the plot -- and an announcement trailer. Granted, the game was actually announced back in early February, but we'll say this is the real announcement, what with a video and artwork actually included for maximum enjoyment factor.
The basis of The Cartel is, of course, a cartel war, which has resulted in the bombing of a US law enforcement agency, wrecking both the building and killing hundreds of people. US intelligence concludes that cartel members must have somehow infiltrated federal agencies, and a taskforce of three specialists is put together to combat the situation:
- Kim Evans, a gang-affiliated street kid-turned-FBI agent
- Eddie Guerra, a DEA agent with a chronic gambling habit
- Ben McCall, a brutal LAPD detective and descendant of Ray McCall from the original Call of Juarez
As you may have guessed by that roster, The Cartel will support three-play co-op play, though each character does have his/her own unique story and ending for the campaign. More single-player and multiplayer details to come, but for now, check out the new assets.
