While some were quick to infer Crytek would be giving up on the PC as a result of the recent Crysis 2 leak, the company quickly put that notion to rest. Now TorrentFreak says despite what you may have assumed, as of Sunday, there actually aren't many people pirating this early version of the game -- just about 10,000 (many times lower than usual).
Indeed, it's possible most pirates are waiting for a proper version of the game, but apparently a lot of folks are encouraging them on the torrent sites themselves to support Crytek and their PC efforts, so we like to think it's having some effect. Perhaps this was what Crytek meant when they said they were overwhelmed by the community support.
In any case, we encourage fans to wait for the multiplayer demo, just announced to hit March 1. If you like what you see, support the developer to see more of their work, particularly given their deep understanding of the platform (somewhat of a rarity these days). Note we'll also have a review up around launch day (March 22).
