EA is the publisher. Publisher is responsible for marketing and this is part of marketing. Plus, EA would decided on whether they should be supported or not.

On the contrary. EA is the publisher, and the publishers have ALL the word on everything. Since the publishers are the ones funding the development, the devs have to please them for fear of having funding cut off and thus ending development of the game.
