Some will remember not long ago Activision also shut down the King's Quest fan game A Silver Lining, later retracting the order following fan backlash. More recently, they've sent a cease and desist letter to Sarien.net, a website which now previously hosted free browser versions of classic Sierra adventure games in the King's Quest, Police Quest, Space Quest, and Leisure Suit Larry series'. Before we all jump on the big bad Activision, however, there are two very important points to keep in mind.
Firstly, the letter is actually quite sensible and human, reading in part, "While we appreciate your dedication to the Sierra classic library and understand that you are a fan of these games, Activision has not authorised the development or distribution of these games via your Website."
Secondly, most of the games were recently released on Good Old Games DRM-free with extras and verified for compatibility with new operating systems -- something we at Neoseeker strongly support. Funnily enough, Sarien's site owner once started Good Old Adventures, a chat environment set within the Sierra adventure universe.
